A little about me
Engineer, researcher, distance runner.
I’m Jignesh Kakkad, though most people know me as Jiggy. I’m a Principal AI Engineer based in Sydney.
The work that interests me
I started my software engineering career in 2004. Since then, I’ve worked on telecommunications platforms, payment systems, cloud services and AI applications. Today, I lead AI engineering at Quantium while continuing to write and review code.
I’m interested in the engineering around AI: connecting models to useful tools, evaluating their behaviour, protecting data and keeping the resulting software reliable. Security is part of that work from the first design decision through to production.
I use coding agents to help plan, implement and review software. Engineers remain responsible for architecture, judgement and what happens after launch.
Study has continued alongside my work. My postgraduate education spans data science, AI, cyber security and business. I’m now researching AI and live speech performance at Macquarie University.

Away from the keyboard
I’ve completed 14 marathons across Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States, including Boston and Berlin twice. Running gives me time away from technical work and a reason to keep showing up for long-term goals.
